Different generations deliberate over Gen Z buying property: 'Gen Z will not be buying boomer McMansions with a 90 minute commute to the city'

For many younger people, property ownership is a milestone that feels like a distant fantasy. It's more common to feel like we're a few bad financial decisions away from not making rent than that we're saving enough for a deposit. Nonetheless, there will supposedly come a time when a more significant chunk of Gen Z owns a house. The question is, where will it be and what kind of property are they going to be choosing?

One commentator caused controversy recently with the bold claim that Zoomers would try to avoid buying the 'boomer McMansions' that many of their parents and grandparents chose. However, other people disagreed claiming that the appeal of suburbia will only grow stronger for this generation as they age. Whatever the case may be, there is no denying that things are going to get interesting once more people start inheriting stuff. A house is a house.
